What key messages about your subject area would you like to share?

We can find maths all around us every single day, even in places we wouldn't expect to. Nothing beats getting to the end of a really challenging maths problem and getting the correct solution. Maths can help us to succeed in other subjects such as Science and DT. There are lots of different areas to maths that require a whole range of different skills such as algebra, data, and geometry. Maths is the key to a whole variety of potential careers/apprenticeships/future aspirations.

I love teaching because it gives me the chance to enthuse others about the subject of maths and to help them realise how much maths can help us to achieve in our lifetimes. Also, teaching allows me to educate and support young children and to give them the building blocks they need for whatever they want to become. Teaching brings lots of people together, not only do we get to communicate with the students in our academy but across lots of other academies in lots of other regions of our country and therefore gives us all lots of different opportunities.

Football and sports are a big part of my personal life; I love playing football and being part of a different kind of team but I also enjoy watching lots of other sports such as Rugby League and Formula 1. Alongside this I try to keep fit by going to the gym or for a run every now and again or swimming lengths in the pool. I like to travel to lots of different places in the half term breaks; this could be a city break in Europe or a road trip across the USA or just a relaxing summer beach holiday anywhere that's hot!

This is both for students and staff - we all want to achieve the same thing which is for the pupils to leave this academy with the results that they deserve.
