What key messages about your subject area would you like to share? English is fundamental to personal intellectual growth and enables us to make sense of the world around us. The ability to use spoken and written language allows us to participate fully and effectively in society. English is the major language of national and international communication and therefore all students need to develop the ability and confidence to speak and write competently. The heart of English lies in the world in which we live, the feelings that we share, and the challenge of communicating these feelings to each other: to teach, to advise, to empathise, to sympathise, to argue, to defend, to challenge but more than anything, to learn.

I enjoy engaging, motivating and inspiring students, so they develop their knowledge and skills in English, as well as a passion for the subject. It's very fulfilling to help make a difference in students' lives and see them leave school with decent grades enabling them to have good opportunities in life.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, ballroom dancing and going to the theatre.
