Smoking is against the law
It is now against the law to smoke in virtually all ‘enclosed’ and ‘substantially enclosed’ public places and workplaces. Public transport and vehicles used by more than one person must be smoke free at all times. The Academy will not tolerate students breaking this law, we also operate a ‘smoking by association’ policy – this means that anyone found with a smoker is punished as well as the smoker. Tobacco, lighters, matches and e-cigarettes must not be brought into the Academy.
Representing the Academy
The recent Department of Education publication ‘Behaviour and Discipline in Schools’ states that the Academy has the right to discipline students even when they are not physically on the premises. Students should expect an appropriate sanction if they misbehave in the community while wearing the Academy’s uniform or behave in any way which could adversely affect the reputation of the school.
Please refer to the school website for the most up to date version of the Behaviour Policy.
